The Gaza Health Initiative (GHI) organized a design thinking session on the first version of the electronic platform for coordinating health and humanitarian aid in cooperation with PwC, in the presence of HRH Princess Dina Mired, Chairwomen of the GHI Advisory Board, with the participation of a number of partners from Jordan and other countries.
Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, the Executive Chair of the Gaza Health Initiative, stressed on the importance of establishing this platform, which will be called “HopeBridge,” it aims to coordinate health and humanitarian aid and reconstruction projects. The platform will computerize and coordinate communication between the entities that will request various types of aid and the donors in an easy and transparent manner that prevents waste and duplication of funding. Al-Hammouri expressed his gratitude to Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired for proposing the idea of establishing the platform and thanked those responsible for building this platform from PwC and the GHI team. He explained that the initiative is now officially registered in Jordan under the name of the Global Health and Relief Initiative (GHRI) and is under registration in Europe and America due to the expansion of the scope of work and the increase in the number of partners of GHI, which exceeded 50 humanitarian and health organizations from different countries of the World.
HRH Princess Dina Mired expressed that the new platform will play an important and complementary role to the efforts of international organizations in facilitating the delivery of aid and implementing projects, starting with the Gaza Strip, with the possibility of expanding its scope later to include other areas in need of humanitarian, health and relief support.
Dr. Omar Lattouf, Chair of the Gaza Health Initiative, presented the growth of the initiative, starting with the Amman Conference in February 2024, that was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, with the presence of more than 600 participants from 45 countries and 250 international institutions. And followed by the Justice for Gaza Conference held at the American University of Beirut in June with the presence of hundreds of representatives of human rights organizations and medical and humanitarian organizations, and lastly followed by the Amsterdam Conference with the participation of Arab and international organizations to support the protection of Palestinian in September.
Dr. Lattouf added that the international interest in GHI's activities continues to grow, noting that the fourth conference will be held at the Carter's Center in Atlanta, USA next April. He added that the increase in the number of charitable and humanitarian organizations and associations interested to participate prompted us to take this step in building a platform that connects and accelerates cooperation to support Gaza and other affected areas.
The attendees discussed the first version of the platform, where the mechanism of using the platform was reviewed by the parties that will request projects, whether for health sector, reconstruction projects, medical equipment and supplies, medicines, and other projects such as medical education, drinking water and sanitation, and orphans care. The mechanism for presenting the proposed projects to the implementation and supporting organizations was also presented. The platform will provide data and statistics for different needs automatically and updated daily.
